In a powerful new partnership, Roots Africa, an international nonprofit committed to ending hunger across Africa, has joined forces with the U.S.-based 2020 Farmers Cooperative to support farmers in Cameroon. Together, they are working to expand farming techniques, introduce innovative technologies, and help farmers increase their yields while spending less time and labor in the fields.
Who We Are
Roots Africa has long been focused on tackling food insecurity by connecting students, universities, and farmers to drive agricultural innovation across Africa. Their mission is simple but profound: ensure no community goes hungry by equipping farmers with the tools and training they need to thrive.
On the other side of the Atlantic, the 2020 Farmers Cooperative brings together disadvantaged farmers throughout the United States. By working collectively, these farmers secure better prices on equipment, negotiate stronger market deals, engage with policymakers, and share valuable knowledge to build more productive farms.
A Global Collaboration
Since early 2025, Roots Africa and the 2020 Farmers Cooperative have been working side by side to connect U.S. and African farmers, students, and universities. The collaboration is already opening doors for knowledge-sharing between continents—bringing modern solutions to age-old challenges while honoring traditional practices.
The goal is twofold:
Empower Cameroonian farmers with practical tools and proven techniques that improve harvests and strengthen food security.
Give U.S. farmers, students, and researchers the chance to learn from African farmers’ resilience, innovation, and commitment to sustainable farming.
Why It Matters
This partnership goes beyond farming—it’s about building global solidarity. By working together, farmers across continents are proving that collaboration is a powerful tool for change. Every new seed planted, every field made more productive, and every student engaged brings us one step closer to ending hunger.
Looking Ahead
As the partnership grows, both organizations envision creating long-term networks that link farmers, agricultural experts, and students. These connections will continue to strengthen communities, expand knowledge, and ensure more families have access to nutritious food.
About the 2020 Farmers Co-Op
The 2020 Farmers Co-Op was created in 2020 by seven farmers who recognized the
challenges faced by small-scale and socially disadvantaged farmers in maintaining and
sustaining productive farms. These farmers created the cooperative to promote fair
and equitable agricultural opportunities for farmers nationwide. To learn more, visit the
