The Focus of Our Efforts
Recognizing the enormity of the challenges our society faces, 2020 Farmers Cooperative is dedicated to making a lasting impact through our campaigns and programs. While our efforts are driven by our organization’s singular focus, we spread a wide net by investing in a variety of progressive strategies. Learn more about our initiatives and get involved yourself.
At the 2020 Farmers Cooperative, we have a number of different member pools. Each pool represents a unique farming opportunity. Where do you fit in?
The 2020 Farmers Cooperative Meat Pools are closely modeled after the 2020 Growers Pool. Farmer members develop the Meat Executive Committee (MEC) pools' policies and producers of beef, pork, poultry and fish have their own governing body. The MEC recommends target prices, votes on policy and works with staff to set production levels. While the MEC has the power to set policy regarding specific production and on-farm issues, the 2020 Cooperative Boards make final policy and pay price decisions. The MEC membership is elected and regional; however, all members are encouraged to provide input to the committee members and attend meeting.
We see every challenge as an opportunity, and this initiative helps us ensure that Black and Socially disadvantaged farmers can participate and compete in the this emerging opportunity and be better prepared to manage the unique situations they find themselves in. We are invested in an innovative approach that empowers our community and delivers the support they need, when they need it.
Through our Support Services, we have the potential to make a real and positive change in the community. Hemp and it's bi-product opportunities are one of our key areas of focus here at 2020 Farmers Cooperative, and a source of much success for our Agricultural Support Service. Most of our efforts pertaining to the Grower Pool program involve studying new approaches and developing innovative ways to implement them. Once implemented, we connect the dots so our Farmer members can distribute their products at fair prices. We evaluate our success in this field by gathering qualitative and quantitative data, and using that information to measure shifts and changes from our baseline measurements in order to improve our members bottom-line.
